Prozac and ADHD

Not much idea about all this so I do hope im in the right forum category. I've used both SNRIs and SSRIs for chronic fatigue and my ADHD. Cymbalta initially worked pretty well, not just for fatigue, but surprisingly also for ED. But, after a period of intense stress and fatigue about 3 months in, it suddenly just stopped functioning and even started making me feel a lot worse. Other SSRIs also lost their effect around the same time. The only exception has been Prozac, it remained consistently helpful and feels similar to how Cymbalta felt at first, even improving my ED. I know Prozac is a 5-HT2C antagonist, so I was wondering if that plays a role. The only issue is that it seems to raise dopamine, which actually worsens my ADHD, even though norepinephrine helps. Im worried Prozac might stop working as well. Would really appreciate any insight as to why antidepressants lose effectiveness over time and how Prozac works. Suggetsions for medications too please.

Bruhhh, antidepressant poop out is really real, the cymbalta probably helped at first due to the norepinephrine boost, but over time serotonin overload can tank dopamine and make things worse, especially with ADHD.
The reason why the Prozac's 5-HT2C is still helping is because of the antagonistic effect, you have to learn to track what works for, try switching to atomoxetine because of how the dopamine increase is making you feel, make the switch and maybe see from there

Youre right, that makes total sense.. Thanks for breaking it down. Tracking what works and considering atomoxetine sounds like a smart move. Appreciate the insight!

Absolutely! You nailed it. Sometimes antidepressants just stop working, right? It's a frustrating thing to deal with. Plus, serotonin really influences dopamine, which is esp. important for anyone with ADHD. It makes sense that Prozac's way of blocking that 5-HT2C receptor could be helpful

Right on the money, thanks!
